"Communication" Examples

There is communication, and then there is communication that fosters a positive and open culture. When leaders regularly and genuinely recognize people, they model behavior that is an underpinning for culture of achievement and success.

Every morning at 10:00 a.m. at every Nordstrom store, the store manager broadcasts over the p.a. system a report of yesterday's successes-highlighting examples of superior sales, service and customer advocacy, and complimenting associates on a work well done.

Nortel Networks sponsors an innovation fair every year or two called "Share and Discover." This is corporation wide global sharing of work , technology developments, etc. and involves hundreds of video and audio hook-ups and countless websites on the Intranet. Last year's event generated over one million website hits by employees in 2 days!!
