Reports & Projects

Part of the IU learning process is sharing with each other. IU Fellows lead mini-workshops and present their projects. Here are some of the project reports from past IU Fellowship groups:

"Out of the Corral and into the Workplace: Putting Monty Roberts' 'Join Up Principles to Work."
1998 Innovation University Fellowship project report by Greg Furrow, Eli Lilly and Company; Diana Elliott, Dell Learning and Andrea Woodward, InnovationNetwork. After seeing a Monty Roberts demonstration at the Innovation Network's Convergence '98 in Santa Barbara, this team became intrigued with the question of how "join up," a process designed for building a collaborative relationship with a horse, could be applied to human interactions in both personal and professional life.

"Molecular Model of Innovation"
1998 Fellows Tim Mills, Nortel; Greg Fleet, Nortel; Robin Cook, YMCA; Mary Gravelle, Heublein; Harold Sharples, H.S. Associates; analyzed the companies visited during their IU visits and developed a model of innovation. They also created a website documenting their learnings and the site visits.

"Creativity and Innovation Survey"
by Ruth Ann Hattori, InnovationNetwork. In the spring of 1997, a survey was conducted on the use of creative thinking techniques and innovation processes by companies. The response was great, which confirms that Innovation and Creativity are hot business topics. These results highlight the fact that more and more businesses are actively seeking ways to improve their competitive edge through higher creativity and innovation.

"Comparison of Assessments" by Cynthia Carlisle, Carlisle Consulting and Dan Logue, Avery Dennison. All IU Fellows and Sponsors participated in a study examining seven assessment tools, with particular reference to their use in revealing preferences for problem solving, creativity, innovation, thinking styles, and personality. Participants gained a lot of insight into their personal styles and the report provides information about where the different assessments might be most useful.
