Alison Strickland is co-founder of Applied Creativity, Inc., a consulting firm dedicated to teaching the art of creating ideas that work and helping individuals and organizations reach their creative potential. Known internationally as a skilled workshop leader who knows how to involve people in learning experiences, she has taught thousands how to live and work more creatively. For twenty-five years she has kept a reflective journal tracking learnings, insights, discoveries and ideas. Now her journaling process has become an integral part of all that she teaches.

Working with her business partner and husband, Ted Coulson, she designs and facilitates creative thinking workshops for major corporations including Chase Manhattan Bank, The Coca-Cola Company, DuPont, GE and Lucent Technologies. They have also developed and produced products for enhancing creativity including Diversity, a game played around the world to help people understand and value different thinking style preferences and a new book, Wow! How Did They Think of That?: The Principles of Creativity.

For more than twenty years Alison has served on the faculty of the annual Creative Problem Solving Institute (CPSI) in Buffalo, NY where she recently received the Service and Commitment Award. There she founded The Writing Place, a special interest group to help people use writing strategies to develop creativity. She is also a colleague of the Creative Education Foundation, served on the original faculty of InnovationNetwork's Innovation University, and teaches at the International Women's Writing Guild's annual conference at Skidmore College.

Alison co-authored Harvesting Your Journals: Writing Tools to Enhance Your Growth and Creativity. She has also written published children's novels and creative thinking books for youngsters as well as numerous professional articles.
